Thickness Analysis of Parts

The ability to determine the material distribution and the corresponding thickness or thinness of a casting part is crucial for its design and manufacturing. Non optimal values of the part leads to issues in its performance during use. Thin wall sections may be structurally weak causing the component to fail during operational use while over compensated thick portions lead to an increase in the weight of the component and hence the subsequent cost to manufacture.

Generate Quick 3D PDF Reports using Glovius

Collaboration among teams and references to contextual 3D data is essential during the design life cycle of a component. To enable faster collaboration and providing contextual information, Glovius has an inbuilt 3D PDF report generator. Using this tool, you can generate a single, concise 3DPDF report containing the prominent information about the component.

Glovius for Should Costing Analysis

Many Glovius users are from Purchasing and Should Costing teams. Product designers need to identify unproductive manufacturing costs early in the product life cycle. Designers and Program Planners are faced with stringent cost targets as companies optimize to provide maximum product value.

Calculate Billet Size and Wastage

Glovius has number of tools to quickly calculate and surface meta data associated with the CAD components. We recently introduced a new parameter to calculate the billet size needed to manufacture the component and the corresponding wastage of raw material in subsequent manufacturing steps.

CAD Assembly Analysis Tools

CAD assemblies can become complex with many components, metadata, PMIs or associated data. Glovius offers a number of tools specifically designed for quick analysis and inspection of CAD assembly files. Lets explore these tools in detail –

Export 3D CAD Parts and Assemblies to 3D PDF

Today PDF file format has become the standard for sharing read only version of files. The main advantages of a PDF document is its accessibility on multiple platforms and familiarity with the free readers available in the market. 3D PDF files are also self-contained and can be used for collaboration or archival purposes.

Bill of Materials (BOM)

A bill of materials (bill of material or BOM) is a list of the constituents of an assembly. In Glovius, you can use the BoM tool to view the Bill of Materials and also export BoM reports in PDF or CSV documents. The BoM report in PDF consists of the Name, Quantity, Extent dimensions and a reference image for quick identification in assembling operations.

Compare 3D CAD files

Using Glovius, you can compare any two 3D models to find out the differences. Use the Compare feature to visually see the changes in any two versions of a 3D component. You can compare 3D part and assembly files from various formats such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro/ENGINEER & Creo, CATIA V5, STEP, IGES and many more.

Introducing Glovius for Windows!

Today, I am pleased to introduce Glovius for Windows, a free JT viewer with inbuilt add-on architecture. Glovius is a high performance 3D visualization tool with an easy to use interface and a modern look and feel. The user interface has a familiar Microsoft Outlook layout, with panels on the left and the ribbon interface on top.
